Tribal in the Tropics 2025:
Reflecting on what was a most marvellous weekend despite not feeling 100% for the occasion.
Even though I felt I was in a dream haze of flu symptoms I am so glad I got to be there and witness all of the amazing and inspiring performances (what a joy!) and partake in the brilliant workshops with Nina, Deirdre, Aysha, Sienna and Richelle. They were all so engaging and I loved how each one reflected the diversity of our dance and each teacher's individual style.
What a pleasure to finally meet and dance with @curlygirlj Jamie and @hipswithattitudedance Deirdre. I hope we get the opportunity again!
I missed doing any crafting with B this year but we did share a lovely little dance duet together in the workshops.
Thankyou once again Nina for bringing everything and everybody together.
We absolutely love our TT festival and YOU!

'Piercing The Veil'
...from my solo performance at Tribal Fest in the West 2024 ⚔️💙🔷️

This piece was both an honour and a challenge. A lot of energy went into its creation🌊🔷️
It is so different dancing solo and I knew I wanted to create something unique and special to this haunting piece of music when Richelle invited me to perform at TFW💙
I have only recently started dabbling with double swords so this was very much an 'unveiling' of a new facet in my dance. It was important for me to find flow with these props and make the moves appear seamless (which is where the challenge comes in!) Even though it was essentially a choreographed rather than improvised piece I wanted each move to appear intentional yet fluid -synchronised and present were my goals, along with honouring GC styling!!
The music was the main inspiration for the piece but also our recent workshops with @christinehaviland at Tribal in the Tropics sparked a few ideas🙏⚔️

'Piercing The Veil'

I feel fortunate to know deeply what brings me joy and dance is one of them.
This feeling is captured perfectly in this photo by @almasarhanphotography at Tribal Fest in the West last October. Taken right after I and my three fellow dance sisters had just finished a collaborative Tribal bellydance performance. When you see joy reflected back at you so clearly, there is no mistaking the power and beauty of a shared passion ♥

Exciting news movers and shakers!!!
I am running another Tribal Bellydance workshop where you can join me for two hours of delicious dance!

In this workshop we will focus on using foundation steps to create some longer combos and play around to find flow and ease in our movements. We’ll also look at how to change the look and feel of dance steps by using different music and styling to complement then.
We will also explore different formations, such as a rotating circle, duet/triplets & open chorus and how we can lead and/or follow within these.
Finishing off with some sensual, swishy skirt movements using our beautiful, full and feminine tribal skirts (available to lend if you don’t own one) Discover how this gorgeous dance prop adds another layer to your dance.
What a fantastic way to spend a Sunday morning…😉

This workshop is aimed at beginners and beyond and some understanding and experience of Tribal Bellydance is ideal, however complete beginners are most welcome to attend. And for those who are more experienced, additional challenge will be offered!

Date: Sun March 10th
Time: 10am to Midday
Cost: $40 pp

Where: COUCH Wellness Centre, 100 Reservoir Rd, Cairns
(The venue is airconditioned- further details on accessing the venue will be given upon booking)

What to wear/bring: dress in cool, comfortable clothing for movement. We usually dance barefoot but wear soft soled/flat dance shoes for support if necessary If you have a tribal skirt please bring along. Bring a water bottle and a smile!
(light refreshments afterwards- stay for a cuppa and a chat💛)

Exciting news movers and shakers!!!
I am running another Tribal Bellydance workshop where you can join me for two hours of delicious dance!

In this workshop we will focus on using foundation steps to create some longer combos and play around to find flow and ease in our movements. We’ll also look at how to change the look and feel of dance steps by using different music and styling to complement then.
We will also explore different formations, such as a rotating circle, duet/triplets & open chorus and how we can lead and/or follow within these.
Finishing off with some sensual, swishy skirt movements using our beautiful, full and feminine tribal skirts (available to lend if you don’t own one) Discover how this gorgeous dance prop adds another layer to your dance.
What a fantastic way to spend a Sunday morning…😉

This workshop is aimed at beginners and beyond and some understanding and experience of Tribal Bellydance is ideal, however complete beginners are most welcome to attend. And for those who are more experienced, additional challenge will be offered!

Date: Sun March 10th
Time: 10am to Midday
Cost: $40 pp

Where: COUCH Wellness Centre, 100 Reservoir Rd, Cairns
(The venue is airconditioned- further details on accessing the venue will be given upon booking)

What to wear/bring: dress in cool, comfortable clothing for movement. We usually dance barefoot but wear soft soled/flat dance shoes for support if necessary If you have a tribal skirt please bring along. Bring a water bottle and a smile!
(light refreshments afterwards- stay for a cuppa and a chat💛)

Beautiful dancers at this morning's workshop where we explored adding baskets to the Global Caravan repertoire
Such a wonderful way to enhance the intention, emotion, symbolism, or shape of a move. I really love how dancing in a group with this prop feels...❤️
A lovely mix of beginner to intermediate level dancers today with one participant having only taken one GC class so far, another sporting a moonboot and another dancing despite a migraine!
Was hoping to get some footage but was that engrossed I forgot, so just a few pics at the end. We closed the circle to this piece of music which was quite magical🦋
Thanks ladies for embracing the moves, combos and formations today. You are all fabulous and it is a treat to be able to offer these workshops.
